Projects

The students at Onanole School have done a very good job of thinking of different projects promoting the elimination of racism.  The projects that we’re doing are:

FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS

In this project we create bracelets using colors of the medicine wheel (red, yellow, white, black) which are also colors that represent the four races of the world .  When finished the students traded bracelets with each other  to represent friendship between two people.  We also made string bracelets with the older students.  They also traded bracelets with a friend.

PEACE WALL

With this project the students get to paint a tile with peaceful symbols and words. Once completed we  will grout the tiles together to make a wall of peace in our school. The tiles will include those that are made in the school as well as those made by the community.

PEACE SHIRTS

In this project the students get a t-shirt with the H.O.P.E logo on it and they get to customize it with their own colors and pictures.

This is the logo that will go on the shirts. It was designed by Tanea Brown.

PEACE FAIR

This is the culmination  of  our H.O.P.E project.  In the Peace Fair we will have different stations learning different things about racism.  We will have cultural food, making of bracelets, peace tiles, dream catchers, trivia games and much, much more!  The Peace Fair will be at the Rec Center in Onanole .  The Peace Fair will be on March 26 at 6:30 p.m.  At 12:30 we will do a peace march in honor of Dr. King who started the peace marches back in the 50′s.  The students, staff, and parents have put alot of work into this so don’t miss it!

PEACE MARCH   

Started by Martin Luther King, we are going to paticipate in a peace march in his honor, as well as all those who have fought for peace starting at Onanole School on March 26th, 12:30 p.m. to kickoff our Peace Fair.  All communitys welcome to come and march with us.
